Kip Johnston - Class Of 1981

KIP ILENE (JOHNSTON) BROGDEN KIP ILENE (JOHNSTON) BROGDEN, 53, of Paradise, passed away in her sleep on Friday, October 16 at her home. She lived on the ridge with her family since moving there from Hayward in 1972. She and her twin sister Valerie were born on August 3, 1962 in Hayward, CA to Wilbur "Bud" and Valerie Johnston. She attended Paradise schools until graduating from Paradise High School in 1981. She studied accounting at Butte Community College while she worked as a pharmacy technician at the Medicine Shoppe in Paradise. On June 14, 1986, she married Scott Douglas Brogden of Paradise. They moved to Chico so Scott could attend Chico State and Kip worked at the pharmacy in the Lucky store in Chico. Their first daughter, Salina was born in Paradise in November of 1989. Following Scott's graduation from Chico State in June of 1990, the couple moved to Mason, Ohio. Their second daughter, Alicia was born in Ohio in March of 1993. The family returned to Paradise in March of 1996. Kip is survived by her husband Scott, daughters Salina and Alicia, her parents, Wilbur F. "Bud" and Valerie Johnston, sisters Brooksie, Valerie, and Corinne; and brothers Ken, Jay, and Blake, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Kip loved God, her family, her church, and being a full-time homemaker. She enjoyed being outdoors, doing craft projects, scrapbooking, volunteering at church and spending time with her family. She had a soft, gentle and energetic spirit that was infectious to all who knew her. She loved life and viewed the world around her with a sense of wonder, a child-like awe, a keen curiosity, and a vivid imagination.
